SPEAKER: Professor Sylvie Toska, Assistant Professor of Political Science, Davidson College

The presentation will discuss past and present US interests in the Middle East, and examine reasons why US disengagement from the region is, and will continue to be, difficult. It also discusses failures of US policy in the region and provides policy suggestions for the future.


BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Toska is a Middle East and International Relations specialist with a PhD in political science from Cornell University.

Her first book, which is forthcoming with Oxford University Press, is titled: “Revolutionary Emotions: Emotions and the Spread and Success of Revolt.” This book builds on over 6 years of field work in the Middle East.

She is currently working on a second book, which examine intelligence success and failure in the Middle East.
