Senior Scholars is run 100% by its volunteers.

Currently there are over 80 active volunteers that keep the machine running in the background. However, we are always in need of new volunteers to join the team.

The skill sets used are varied and wide. As a retiree (or semi-retired, or soon to be retired) we can certainly find a use for yours.

Current Open Positions:

The Wildacres Committee Co-Chairs are responsible for the following:

  • Managing an annual multi-day conference at the Wildacres Conference Center.
  • Presiding over the committee and overseeing planning and budgeting.
  • Selecting a topic for the conference and recruiting speakers.
  • Publicizing the event and registering members.
  • Working with the Wildacres staff to confirm a date and managing day-to-day operations.
  • Recruiting committee members and providing updates to the Board.

The Membership Chair is responsible for the following:

  • Recruit members to help work the membership table each week.
  • Updating the member Airtable database with New and Renewal members.
  • Ordering Name Tags for new members.
  • Collecting the cash/checks each week for the Treasurer.
  • Insuring computers are ready for each meeting.
  • Providing the updated database file for Weekly Emails.

The Queens Liaison is responsible for meeting with Queens administrators and seeking cooperation on matters of mutual interest.

These matters include encouraging professors’ participation in Senior Scholars programs and providing members with information on upcoming events at Queens.
