Senior Scholars is run 100% by its volunteers.

Currently there are over 80 active volunteers that keep the machine running in the background. However, we are always in need of new volunteers to join the team.

The skill sets used are varied and wide. As a retiree (or semi-retired, or soon to be retired) we can certainly find a use for yours.

Current Open Positions:

This person works with the President and others to put together our weekly email.

Using Benchmark Email Marketing Platform, compose emails which are sent out twice weekly.

This includes importing contact lists from Excel spreadsheets into Benchmark contacts manager.

Training is available and provided on the tools for this job.

This is a great way to learn about activities of Senior Scholars while providing timely information to our members.

The committee is responsible for planning and managing an annual multi-day conference and retreat for interested members at the Wildacres Conference Center in North Carolina.

The Co-Chairs preside over the committee and oversee all planning, budgeting and arranging for the annual retreat. They recruit members and provide updates at board meetings.

Duties include selecting a topic for the retreat, recruiting one or more speakers to make presentations, publicizing the event and registering members, working with the Wildacres staff to confirm a date, and managing the day-to-day operations of the retreat.

Co-Chairs will get to know other members and have a chance to sharpen their existing skills or develop new ones.  They will also have the satisfaction of producing a popular event that has been a major feature of Senior Scholars for over 40 years.
