Since the Korean War, South Korea has become an economic powerhouse and a critical ally of the US in Northeast Asia and serves as an example of how nations can leverage their middle power status to have an outsize impact on the global agenda.

After several unsuccessful leaders of South Korea, President Moon Jae-in has emerged as a effective leader in balancing the dynamics of a threating North Korea, with competing influences of the US and China in this struggle for dominance in the Northeast Asia.
